The 60 at 60 Project

In 2023, to mark my 60th birthday and 40 years in photography, I began creating 60 new black-and-white personal portraits. I’m still working on them—quietly and in between the corporate work.

Portraits have always been my happy place. Each one is a chance to connect. As I often say, “A portrait is not only an opportunity to learn about each person I get to photograph, but perhaps also a little more about myself.”

Today, we photographed Brock Murray, the co-founder of seoplus+, a digital agency based here in Ottawa. We’ve worked with Brock and his team for several years now—capturing headshots, team portraits, and day-in-the-life images of their studio in action.

This visit was no different: new headshots for new team members, in-action portraits, and journalistic shots of the team doing what they do best. While we were there, we also photographed Brock working both independently and alongside his staff. We took a few moments to create this portrait as part of my 60at60 series.

What continues to stand out about Brock is his quiet, generous humility. He leads with kindness, not ego. Whether it’s guiding his team or contributing to the broader Ottawa business community, his approach is thoughtful and grounded.

There’s a calm energy in their space. People seem focused but relaxed—comfortable being themselves. That speaks volumes about the culture Brock has helped shape.

I’ve always been drawn to people who lead with care, not noise. People like Brock, who keep building something meaningful—consistently, and with integrity. It’s always a privilege to work with him and photograph him.
